Bally's Bronx hits the jackpot! Casino license approved for Ferry Point

The New York State Gaming Commission has approved a casino license for Bally's Bronx to build a state-of-the-art casino resort in Ferry Point Park.
The decision was announced during a public hearing held by the New York State Gaming Commission on Monday afternoon.
Bally's is expected to bring upwards of 12,000 union construction jobs and promises to give 1% of annual gaming revenue to the local community. Its license application included a community benefit packaged worth $765 million. The casino resort that would change the skyline right would include 3,500 slot machines, 210 table games, 40 poker tables, a 500-room hotel along with event hall that can fit up to 2,000 seats.
“Bally’s is betting on the Bronx. Having grown up in the city, it’s an honor and privilege to be selected by the Gaming Commission to receive a license,” said Soo Kim, chairman of Bally’s Corporation. “Our team has worked closely with community leaders, union partners, and local stakeholders to build a project that delivers real jobs, lasting economic benefits, and a world-class entertainment destination for the Bronx. We are grateful for the Board’s confidence and look forward to delivering our project to the community.”
A spa, restaurants, retail shops and a Jack Nickalus style golf course would also be main attractions right off the Whitestone Bridge.
In return, the company has proposed a local benefits package valued at $765 million, including infrastructure and transit upgrades, funding for schools and organizations, NYPD substations and more.
The approval is conditional under an independent outside monitor for up to five years to ensure the corporation keeps its word on their promises to the communities that will be impacted.
Bally's Chair Soo Kim previously told News 12 that he plans get shovels in the ground right away, with an estimated completion date ahead of mid-2030.
Two other casino licenses were also granted for locations in Queens, including Resorts World in South Ozone Park and Metropolitan Park in Flushing.
