What better place to host the ultimate hip-hop battle than in the borough where it all began?
The "Battle For New York - Hip-Hop Culture Jam" gave fans a showcase like no other Sunday in Mount Eden. Event attendees were able to witness legendary DJs, break dancers and graffiti artists as they competed for the title of supremacy.
"At the moment we're right now, hip-hop is being kind of represented in very hostile and aggressive representation, it's good for us to bring the focus back to the community, the people, and the leaders,” said breakdancer Ana "Rokafella" Garcia.
The coordinator of the event told News 12 she hopes to continue to curate hip-hop centered events and shine a light on the genre that changed the music game indefinitely.
