Community members in Belmont braved the start of the snowstorm on Friday.

As neighbors made their way up and down Arthur Avenue, some visitors were enjoying the snow covering the streets.

"We're from Denver, but there's no snow over there right now, so it's been like the driest, non-snowiest winter ever. So like this is pretty nice," said Ben Welch.

For neighbors like Pramitivo Cuautle, it was a reminder of his favorite winters in The Bronx.

"It brings me so much happiness because it reminds me of the snowstorms when I first came here in 1995. I miss those days," he said.

Christina Farrell, the first deputy commissioner at the New York City Emergency Management Department, said the snowstorm could be one to remember.

“It seems like we’re gearing up if the forecast holds for one of the largest snowfalls in recent memory. But we’re prepared," she said.

But other neighbors said they're not worried.

"We're New Yorkers. Like that's nothing to us. I'm excited," said Monique Obeze.
