Devon Rodriguez, of Mott Haven, is getting his art noticed on a national scale.
The 23-year-old is one of 46 finalists chosen from 2,600 artists entered in a contest held by the Smithsonian Institution.
His work will be displayed in the fall at the institute's National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C.
He told News 12 that he gets his inspiration from random people he spots in the subway.
Rodriquez's portrait will be revealed at the Smithsonian on Oct. 25.
