A rapper from the Bronx gave back to his community Wednesday at a school in the neighborhood in which he grew up.
A Boogie wit da Hoodie, whose real name is Julius Dubose, handed out school supplies to students at Highbridge Green School. Those supplies included backpacks and A Boogie's trademark hoodies.
The 21-year-old rapper teamed up with the Garden of Dreams, a charity organization, to host the back-to-school event. He's got a lot on his plate, releasing a new album and planning a tour, but says he felt the need to give back.
"If you don't come back and do things like this, then what are you doing it all for?" A Boogie says.
The cover art on A Boogie's new album, "The Bigger Artist," features a picture of torn looseleaf that he drew up himself. He says it all ties in to coming back to school and giving kids a treat.
