A young artist in the Bronx is getting to know her neighbors and tell their stories through the art she creates.
Annie Legnini, a 23-year-old artist from Morris Park, put a call out on social media asking for willing Bronx residents to submit pictures of themselves and asked them a few questions.
Legnini received a lot of submissions from strangers and has since turned their pictures into paintings she calls 'Bronx Faces.'
Once complete, Legnini reunites the paintings and images with their owner, and in return she gets to meet the person she has worked to replicate.
"'I have met a lot of interesting people, people that live down the block from me and I had no idea, so it's been really great establishing those connections and a new community," she says.
She uses materials like plastic bags, glitter and old earbuds to personalize the life-like pieces of art.
