President Joe Biden laid out plans to use federal and military personnel to help hospitals withstand the Omicron surge.
The president says that help will be deployed next week to six hard-hit states: Michigan, New York, New Jersey, Ohio and Rhode Island. One of the hospitals getting support is NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island.
While Biden says deaths are down dramatically since last winter, hospitals are still catching the brunt of this. He says his administration shipped more than 5.5 million pieces of PPE to hospitals across the country.
The president says they plan to roll out a website in the coming weeks that will allow people to order free tests and get them shipped directly to their home.
Biden also encouraged people to get vaccinated and get boosted, and for everyone to do their part.
