City public pools don't open until next Thursday, but some City Council members are looking to extend the pool season.

A bill proposed earlier this year would change the pool season to the second Saturday in May through the second Sunday in October instead of closing the weekend safter Labor Day.

It would also extend the current pool hours, opening two hours earlier and closing two hours later from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.

The bill has not yet moved past committee hearings.
