BioNTech and Pfizer announce collaboration to manufacture COVID-19 vaccine
BioNTech and Pfizer announced this morning another collaboration to manufacture the COVID-19 vaccine.
Eurofarma, a Brazilian biopharmaceutical company, will perform manufacturing activities within Pfizer’s and BioNTech’s global COVID-19 vaccine supply chain and manufacturing network to manufacture the vaccine for distribution within Latin America.
To facilitate Eurofarma’s involvement in the process, technical transfer, on-site development, and equipment installation activities will begin immediately. Per the agreement, Eurofarma will obtain drug product from facilities in the U.S., and manufacturing of finished doses will commence in 2022.
This announcement comes a day after the companies said yesterday they were seeking Food and Drug Administration approval of a booster in the U.S.
The companies will also file this data with other regulatory authorities around the world in coming weeks.
