The Department of Health is warning New Yorkers to not feed their pets raw pet food from the company Savage Cat Food.

The announcement comes after the department is investigating how two cats became infected with bird flu in the city.

According to the NYC Health Department, the cats are infected with H5 Avian influenza, the virus that caused bird flu, after eating chicken packets from Savage cat food.

While the department says that the current risk of bird flu to humans remains low, as a precaution, New Yorkers with pets are advised to not feed their pets raw food or raw milk.
