  • A HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK is in effect through this evening. Life-threatening rip currents are likely at all Brooklyn and Queens beaches.
  • It's a mild and cloudy start to the day. Temperatures are in the mid to upper 60s.
  • Today will be cooler, breezy with off and on steady showers. Temperatures will be in the 60s.
  • Spotty showers continue through the predawn hours of Thursday. As the storm pulls away Thursday morning, drier conditions take us through the weekend.
  • A big temperature swing is expected Friday through Sunday. High temperatures will be in the low 80s dropping to the low 70s. Low temperatures will be in the 50s and 60s.
  • The Autumnal Equinox officially begins Monday September 22nd at 2:19 p.m. On the Autumnal equinox, the sun crosses over the equator marking the start of astronomical Fall. This results in nearly equal day and night in the northern hemisphere.
TRACKING THE TROPICS: There's a high chance of a tropical depression or storm forming the next day in
the central Tropical Atlantic. This tropical wave currently poses no direct threat to land. Another tropical wave has formed off the coast of Africa. This tropical disturbance has a low chance of development over the next 7 days. Stay tuned for updates!
