Rain has started around the borough and will continue overnight. Unfortunately, this coincides with prime Thanksgiving travel timing.
If you are heading out, allow extra time and pack your patience, as rain and leaves can combine into slippery driving conditions. Rain is expected to be light to moderate, and steady for early parts of the overnight.
This will transition into scattered showers throughout Wednesday, with dry periods throughout the day. Another wave of rain is possible Wednesday evening.
On top of potentially lowered visibility overnight, there could also be areas of patchy fog. If you encounter this, remember to use low beams and reduce speed!
Temperatures continue to slingshot between the 50s, 60s and 40s. Wednesday will feature more comfortable temperatures in the lower 60s, but don't get used to them.
Thanksgiving will plummet us back to the 40s, with gusts making it feel even colder. The wind isn't just annoying because of how cold it is making the temperatures feel, but also for the Thanksgiving Day Parade. Balloons can't fly if we have gusts of 34 mph or stronger, and we are forecasting into the low 30 mph range for Thursday. If they are stronger than planned for, this could impact the parade. Either way, if you are heading out to enjoy the festivities, wear layers and plan for colder feeling weather.
We will stay dry through the first half of the weekend, with rain chances returning Sunday. Temperatures drop to the 40s on Thursday and stay there through the weekend. Wind will combine to make this feel much colder than it actually is.
