Members of Black Men Run NYC are completing their final run of the year while also celebrating the second day of Kwanzaa.
The day's running discussion focused around the principle of "kujichagulia" or self-determination.
The Kwanzaa Sunday Runday featured a two-mile run to Juneteenth Grove and then back to Grand Army Plaza with runners encouraging one another and reflecting on ways they hope to be more determined in the new year.
The group meets to run every Wednesday and Sunday.
They say it's important to have ongoing events in the community to encourage each other especially ahead of the new year.
