Friends and family members came together Saturday for a block party to honor a man who died while in police custody.
According to officials, Andrew Kearse was denied critical medical care while in custody two years ago in Schenectady.
Loved ones gathered for a block party in Melrose that included music, food, bouncy houses for kids and more.
Organizers say the gathering was all about remembering a person who brought joy into people's lives, and to raise awareness to the Andrew Kearse Act, which they say seeks to hold police accountable for people in their custody.
