One Bronx initiative is putting the focus on the youth when it comes to being fit.
The annual B’N Fit Walk was held Saturday at Fordham Plaza.
B’N Fit, which stands for Bronx Nutrition and Fitness Initiative, is a program designed to get teens and adolescents up and moving.
The walk invited students from all over the Bronx to participate in a 2.5-mile walk down Fordham Road.
Students were broken up into teams, each representing their respective schools, in a joint effort to be fit together.
Actor Malik Yoba served as grand marshal for the event.
The B’N Fit Walk raises funds for fitness and wellness improvements in schools, like after-school fitness programs.
Organizers say a host of sponsors help to make the walk possible.
This year marks the first time that the walk is an official Bronx Week event.
