Bodega owners are beginning to add chains and locks to their shelves due to an increase in thefts in New York City.
Members of the United Bodegas of America held a news conference in University Heights to address the issue.
"When the people really need anything for their family. We're always open to give a credit or even give it to them. So, we know those are not the people that come into the store to steal something," said Radhames Rodriguez, president of United Bodegas of America.
News 12’s Samantha Chaney joined bodega owners as they voiced their concerns and plans for the newly added locks and chains.
