A child was rescued after he fell through the ice at an East Patchogue pond on Thursday, police said.
Police say a neighbor in the Heatherwood Lakeside Village apartment complex saw the 8-year-old boy fall through the ice.
Two officers and a sergeant pulled him from chest-deep water.
The boy was taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution and is expected to recover.
