Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams announced Friday his
proposal to suspend the city's 4.5% sales tax at small businesses for the rest
of 2020.
The proposal is being made as holiday shopping ramps up and
many local businesses need patronage after a pandemic-stricken year.
Adams says that some of the city's tax surplus from the first
quarter of the year could help fill the gap.
It was not immediately clear if the city will consider the
measure.
