A Bronx nonprofit celebrated the opening of its newest affordable and supportive housing development Tuesday.
La Central, on Bergen Avenue, is providing 161 new units for formerly homeless and low-income individuals.
It’s the 24th building operated by the nonprofit organization Breaking Ground – the city's largest provider and developer of permanent supportive housing.
La Central features a roof terrace and 4,500 square-feet of community facility space. It will also have social services provided by Breaking Ground's partner, Comunilife.
It’s the first of five buildings to open as part of the development.
