As Breast Cancer Awareness Month comes to an end, women still have
the opportunity to get a screening today in Mott Haven.
News 12’s Brittany Cadet was at the Montefiore
Medical Center where the no-cost breast screening event is taking place until 2 p.m.
Breast screenings are key for
women 50 and up, but women starting from the age of 18 can get screened.
Women can expect to get a
breast exam by a physician that includes an iBreast Exam. It is a quick,
painless, and radiation-free exam for early detection of breast cancer cells
which helps determine your risk of breast cancer.
Breast cancer can occur in
both men and women but is far more common in women. According to doctors at the
event, breast cancer is the second most common cancer diagnosed in women in the
United States, behind skin cancer.
