A Bridgeport army veteran said his social security benefits were restored after they were wrongfully terminated.

"Everything's right, everything's in order and they didn't ask me any questions. They just sent me my money," Tracy Blackwell said.

Blackwell said he couldn't make ends meet after his social security payments were abruptly stopped earlier this year.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal said after he learned about the story through News 12 Connecticut, he contacted the Social Security Administration, which then fixed the problem.

"I'm really pleased that the combination of News 12, Frank Recchia and the Connecticut Legal Veteran's Clinic, as well as my office, were able to achieve this really just and fair result," Blumenthal commented.

"They took care of me, they went to Social Security, they took up my case and everything came through like a shining star," Blackwell added.

Blackwell said he thinks the problem may have resulted from him making two or three dollars more a month at a part-time job he had because it was more than is allowed by the government.

He said the minor overage should have been waived from the start.
