A Bridgeport firefighter accused of taking a bag of drugs from the scene of an overdose has been charged and suspended without pay.

Officials say the incident happened on March 2 at a home on Polk Street. They say a police officer saw Harold Clark Jr. take the bag that was on a bed and walk out of the home. The officer informed a fire scene supervisor.

According to court records, four small bags that contained cocaine and fentanyl were then found elsewhere on the property.

Clark, 28, who was being recorded on police bodycam during the incident, denied findings the narcotics. He also refused to be interviewed by police.

Clark was arrested on March 22. He was charged with interfering with an officer and tampering with evidence. Clark was able to post bond and was released from police custody.
