Bridgeport police ask for help locating woman missing for more than 30 years

Bridgeport police are renewing their call for help as they try to locate a woman who has been missing for 31 years.
Her family told News 12 this year they are celebrating Omyra Velazquez’ 50th birthday without her.
News 12 Connecticut's Frank Recchia spoke with family members.
The missing woman’s brother, Adam Velazquez, said he hopes someone, somewhere, will pick up the phone and tell police what they know.
The case has grown cold, but police say there is always a chance for a fresh lead to rekindle their investigation.
"I need them, I want them to find her, something. If she's dead, find her. If she's alive, find her please," said Adam Velazquez.
The family said the passage of time has done nothing to diminish the pain of losing her.
"No closure, nothing, it's just like she disappeared from the map," said Adam Velazquez.
Police said Omyra Velazquez was last seen on the South End in Bridgeport in 1993.
Councilman Jorge Cruz said the answer to a 31-year-old mystery could be only a door knock away if the right person will answer.
"The psychological, mental pain must be terrible," Cruz said. “Anybody out there that knows anything about Miss Velazquez, please contact the local police department.”
Adam Velazquez stated that while the only photos he has of his sister may be old and blurry, his memories of her are crystal clear.
