Bridgeport remembers 18-year-old stabbed to death on Memorial Day

Community members are mourning a Bridgeport teen who was stabbed to death.
Police say 18-year-old Trevon Pierce was stabbed multiple times on Memorial Day.
"It's just another sad day for Bridgeport," says Bridgeport community activist Tony Barr.
His mother tells News 12 Connecticut he had been walking down Park Avenue on his way to meet his friends at Seaside Park.
There is a memorial now at the spot where police found his body.
"My deepest condolences, my prayers are with the family, and I ask the community itself to extend their prayers to the family," said Barr.
Police say this was an isolated incident, and that Pierce likely knew his attackers.
"We have to find a way to try and figure out how do we address this senseless violence or any form of violence in the city of Bridgeport," says Barr.
Family members say Pierce had just transferred to Bassick High School and was ready to graduate. They say he had his whole life ahead of him.
"Speaking to the family members and the things that they said about how he loves sports and Capital Prep and finally finishing his last year, he insisted on being a part of the public school system," said Barr.
Police are asking anyone who knows what happened to contact Homicide Detective Jeffrey Holtz at 203-581-5293 or the Bridgeport Police Tips Line at 203-576-TIPS.
Pierce's mother did not want to go on camera but says her son was a great kid who was very involved in his church.
