The sister of a Bronx boy who was struck in the head by a stray bullet last month says she and her family are hopeful he will pull through.

Aja Holmes witnessed the shooting of her brother, Jaheem Hunter, on Hunter's fifth birthday.

"To see the amount of blood coming out of this child...nobody should have to go through that. It was heartbreaking," Holmes says. 

Hunter is still in intensive care and beginning to show signs of recovery. He has begun to move his hands and shoulders, and has even mumbled the words to his favorite song.

Hunter has undergone three surgeries and may have a lot more on his way to recovery. His family hopes he will be transferred to a rehabilitation facility soon.

Michael Quiles is charged with attempted murder in the shooting.
