Bronx Brough President Vanessa Gibson hosted the Bronx's annual Juneteenth flag raising Tuesday.
Signed into law in 2021, Juneteenth celebrates the end of slavery in the United States.
Gibson shared why the new tradition is so important on the Grand Concourse.
The Juneteenth flag shows a bursting "new star" on the horizon. News 12 was told that star represents a new freedom and a new American people.
