Some organizations celebrated national "Be an Angel Day" Tuesday by doing good deeds for the community.
The Triboro Center, a nursing home and rehabilitation facility on Teller Avenue, hosted its first Be an Angel Day event in conjunction with the 44th Precinct. Dozens of community members lined the street to get free ice cream.
The event also works with the founder of Stop & Shake, an organization that promotes unity between police and the community. The goal is to help open the lines of communication and make the area a more peaceful place.
The Triboro Center will host its next event in September. That event is a community blood drive to help the Red Cross.
