As the holidays come closer, some local businesses are offering custom baskets and other unique gifts for families to celebrate while also staying safe.

Marie's Coffee and Gift Shop and Joe's Italian Deli are two family-owned businesses in the Belmont section of the Bronx that have been around for decades. Both have also managed to keep their doors open throughout the pandemic.

The shops are ready for New Yorkers to come in and pick up what they need for their small family gatherings or to send gift baskets to those they're unable to see.

Joe's Italian Deli has a full line of custom gourmet gift baskets.

Owner Anthony Ruscigno says, "We don't substitute any of the quality, so the items are all authentic and we can either white glove delivery, pick them up, we use UPS to ship and they're really nice for this time of year."

Marie's Coffee and Gift Shop is also offering custom arrangements that can be picked up or shipped.

Longtime customers News 12 spoke with say they hope the community comes out, especially during this time of year, to support the businesses that hold this community together.

"Small businesses are the ones who have really been hit hard and they need our support they really do," says customer Luigi Trombetta.

Ruscigno says, "If we have to extend our hours to make ordering over the phone curbside pickup more accessible for our customers, we're going to do whatever we have to do to make sure the holidays are as normal as possible."
