A Bronx church is taking an active roll in the fight against the growing HIV/AIDS epidemic. Bronx residents filled the pews of Saints of Jesus Christ Church Saturday, waiting to take an AIDS test. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) says blacks account for almost half of the HIV and AIDS cases diagnosed nationwide. Minister Ethel Moran says her church is taking an initiative in the fight against the disease. The rapid testing is free, fast and confidential. Church and local community outreach volunteers handed out flyers on the streets to inform south Bronx residents about the free testing. Participants were given MetroCards and movie tickets to help get the word out to others.
