? Protesters gathered at City Hall Wednesday to demand legislative action that supports the Bronx's large immigrant population.

Many immigrant protesters who spoke to News 12 The Bronx say they make up two-thirds of the city?s population, but lawmakers ignore them. Not only do they want fair treatment from landlords, they also want passage of the Patient Information Act, which would hold hospitals accountable for the money they receive to treat the underinsured.

Also at issue, the protesters want the City Council to override a veto from Mayor Michael Bloomberg on legislation that called for school notices to be translated into students? native languages. In addition, protesters are calling for the city to restore money for classes to teach English to non-speakers.

Mayor Bloomberg says he vetoed the bill because it violated state law, adding that the Department of Education already implements many aspects of the legislation.
