Bronx and city elementary school kids begin a second round of standardized testing Tuesday.
The students finished their English exams in January and now have to take on math. Students in grades three through five will be tested this week. Grades six through eight will be tested next week. Third, 5th and 7th-graders are subject to the Bloomberg Administration?s promotion policy. Those students could be held back a grade if they do not score high enough on the tests.
The extended standardized testing went into effect this school year as part of the federal No Child Left Behind Act. The act expanded annual assessments in reading and math.
