There are more changes on the way at Bronx and city schools, including giving some principals more power.

Schools Chancellor Joel Klein has several plans in the works for Bronx and city schools. One plan would take $200 million out of the central budget and divide it among some schools. The plan is an expansion of a pilot program called the Autonomy Zone. School principals in that program have the freedom to spend their budgets the way they want to, provided they keep up performance standards.

Klein says the new system would be more school-centered. The administration would be more responsible for coordinating between schools with similar programs. There is no word on which schools will enter the Autonomy Zone.
