Jim McQuade was known by many as a pillar of the Throgs Neck community, willing to help anyone. Now, he’s getting a street in that neighborhood co-named in his honor.
Hundreds gathered at the corner of Sommer Place and East Tremont Avenue to honor McQuade with the street naming ceremony, including family, friends, members of the NYPD and students from a nearby school.
McQuade died in 2022 at 75 years old and was the owner of Schuyler Hill Funeral Home.
“[He helped] through his charitable work, through the funeral home… his good grace and his energy and spirit was here with us today,” said Council member Marjorie Velazquez, who spoke about his impact on the borough and community at today’s event.
