Bronx customers are complaining of expensive Con Edison bills amid freezing temperatures.
A post on Next Door app shows over 50 comments of Bronx residents worried about how they’ll pay their latest Con Edison bills. Many of them tell News 12 that their usage has not changed from one month to the next or from year to year. Some say they’ve even tried to use their system less to save money. We spoke to one Clason Point homeowner who showed us his latest bill which was $691 this month while he was only charged $105 the month prior.
News 12 reached out to Con Ed for an interview but was referred to their online resources. One option for a customer is to sign up for a payment plan or if you believe your bill is incorrect, you can request a technician visit to read your meter.
Leaders like Rep. Ritchie Torres and New York Attorney General Letitia James have called for the company to lower its delivery charges in what some have called predatory practices.
