The Bronx district attorney is calling on private business owners to help solve crimes faster via a security camera directory.
District Attorney Darcel Clark is hoping to map out where security cameras are, asking local businesses to help law enforcement out when it comes to locating them, and who to contact when it comes to providing crucial video from them.
"It's a voluntary program -- we don't own the cameras, the businesses own the cameras, we don't get to see the cameras," says Clark. "It's a confidential map we're making to show the location of the cameras, so when something happens, we can go there, we know who the owners are, where they are."
Len Morse owns Vacuum World in Riverdale. His business is just one of many the DA says are in support of the program.
Clark says the program has helped them access 700 surveillance cameras since last fall.
