A day care provider in the Bronx pleaded guilty to charges of sexual exploitation of a child and the production of child pornography.

Silfredo Castillo Martinez, 34, was in possession of approximately 9,800 images depicting child and infant pornography from December 2016 through April 2022, according to court documents.

The criminal complaint filed in March 2023 outlines that from around July 2015 through May 2022, Castillo Martinez operated a licensed day care facility for children at his Bronx residence.

From May to July in 2018, Castillo Martinez coerced an 11-year-old to engage in sexually explicit conduct while at the day care facility, which he recorded on his cellphone and camera.

Castillo Martinez faces a minimum term of 15 years’ imprisonment with the possibility of receiving a life sentence. He is scheduled to be sentenced on June 25.
