A faith-based organization from the Bronx gathered in Highbridge on Sunday to show their support for the Asian community.
Congregants of the Latino Pastoral Action Center celebrated Palm Sunday by coming together for a rally and to speak against Asian hate crimes.
Bishop Raymond Rivera says he organized the demonstration in response to the violent attacks on Asian Americans over the past few weeks.
"We stand in solidarity against the senseless violence rooted in white supremacy, we have a history of people of color suffering from the systemic and institutional racism," Rivera says.
Black and brown congregants say they wanted to speak out against the hate because they know what it's like to be discriminated against.
The group gave several prayers, including some in Spanish.
