Families headed to Pelham Bay Park on Sunday to spend some time in the warm weather.

News 12's Elly Morillo spoke with Bronx residents about their outdoor plans for the holiday weekend.

Our fly meteorologist right there, Alex. Kama. Alex. What do you got for us? Thanks. Hi. Well, I don't want to burst your bubble. So we're going to start talking about good stuff. We've got mild weather with highs in the fifties and cloudy skies. Yes, but it is dry today. So those are the good things about this weekend. Unfortunately, tomorrow, if you have plans, you need the umbrella to join you back as the special guest. We've got plenty of rain coming our direction. Tomorrow, temperatures are nice all afternoon actually. Really by mid morning we're heading mid f there is some of this low cloud cover and fog lingering for the early morning. I do think that clears out by lunchtime highs today hit close to 60 if you are heading into midtown, you just might hit 60 same out there on Staten Island. But here in the Bronx, we're expecting temperatures to be just a bit below that. You're in the forties and close to 50 overnight tonight. So that's a mild feel, but it does come with showers starting around nine or so. And then a widespread rain pretty much all day Sunday especially. It looks like the morning time right now that east breeze feels gross. Let's time it out for you. You see again pretty cloudy tonight, but mainly dry until around midnight. Midnight is light shower activity and then it becomes a steady moderate rain for Sunday morning. So you need the umbrella, you need to use the windshield wipers and you just need your patience too. If you're walking around outside in the mid morning on Sunday, it is just a soaker. Look at the yellows and oranges. This is some solid, pretty steady rain. This is two o'clock in the afternoon on Sunday. It doesn't clear out until about 56 o'clock. So the whole day time it's gloomy and it's miserable. It's a guarantee it's going to rain and then we are dry for the work week. So that's good news. Unfortunately, we don't want to talk about the work week on a Saturday. We'll do it anyway though. We're expecting temperatures to drop into the forties on Tuesday and Wednesday. Then we are bogging out Thursday morning, start of Hanukkah. Things start to warm up into next weekend. So a little bit of an improvement there with another chance of rain.

First full weekend of December officially upon us, but it doesn't really feel like it out there at all. Was that 60 degrees for Saturday? Really nice. Can't complain a little wet though today. Yeah, it was a little wet a couple of hours ago, but at least we got some dry conditions to kick off the weekend. That will be quickly changing by Sunday. Here's what you can expect. Waves of rain starting Saturday night into Sunday night. So that's going to be a long duration storm where we are expecting rounds of rain, steady rain with a few downpours possible. So you're gonna have to watch for some puddles ponding on area roadways. And if you live somewhere that has poor drainage, you're probably going to see some more of that localized flooding. In terms of tomorrow morning, we're starting off chilly. Temperatures near 46 degrees areas of fog will be to move into our area. It will lift and clouds will still be with us throughout the afternoon with temperatures topping out near 58 degrees muted sunshine. So not seeing that sunshine that we like to see, but at least it's going to remain dry. During the evening, it is still going to remain dry with clouds, but showers do arrive late after midnight. That's where we start to see some of that wet weather pushing through. But at least we got these unseasonably mild temperatures. Our average high 49 degrees. We're not going to see the forties until the midweek. And that's also where we start to see there. I say some festive flakes returning back to our area. But in the meantime, let's just enjoy the dry weather. So some clouds and fog to start our Saturday, it is going to remain dry throughout the day. Temperatures will be topping out near 58 degrees and we got some rain.

Bronx families bask in warm weather at Pelham Bay Park

hope dan. This Memorial Day weekend families headed on over to Palembang park to spend some time outdoors. Some even seen barbecuing, dancing and walking their pets. However, there was still definitely one thing on everyone's mind. Summer Emilio Miranda and his wife. Sonia Miranda told me days like today fuel excitement for the summer season. Barbie, you're killing. What does he want? Oh yes, we are. So we can go to the beach, Lillian tells me a beautiful day. Like today is perfect to get outdoors with those you love, we're having a family day. We're having a family day is so good to get us all together because you know the weather been a little crappy, but the weather is picking up and look at the trees. It's important to note that as temperatures continue to rise in the upcoming weeks, new Yorkers should stay protected with sunscreen always strive to stay hydrated and cool in air conditioned spaces. I think we can all agree that after a roller coaster of wacky weather, the last couple of months, summer is finally making its debut. We're at Pelham Bay Park. El Amarillo News 12
