John Astre is a fifth grader at P.S.9 in the Bronx who was denied the chance to go on an end-of-school field trip. However, good news has been announced for the family after News 12 broke the story.
Astre's parents told News 12 that his class went on a trip to Nickelodeon Universe Theme Park and claimed their son was left out because of concerns over his size. The parents were frustrated with the lack of communication about the situation. News 12 is still awaiting comment from the Department of Education.
Officials at American Dream reached out to News 12 and personally invited the Astre family to come down to the park. The family was shocked and touched and look forward to the trip.
