A Bronx family who had been searching for their lost dog got some happy news Wednesday while News 12’s cameras were rolling.
Abby, the family's Shih Tzu-poodle mix, was found by a stranger 15 miles away at a Brooklyn deli.
The dog’s owner, Corey, says he went inside Key Food at 178th Street and Boston Road in the Bronx to buy a few things and left Abby tied up outside.
Surveillance video shows a woman untying the dog and taking off.
Corey filed a police report Tuesday night and posted a message on Facebook that received 300 shares.
The family was reunited with the dog Wednesday after a good Samaritan says he recognized the woman from the surveillance and confronted her about the dog. He says he showed her the video, and she got scared and ran away.
