A Bronx designer and shoe enthusiast is looking to make a name for himself in the fashion world.
Sherwayne Mahoney says he first become interested in fashion design while he took an elective class at John F. Kennedy High School. Mahoney says the next thing he knew, he was designing prom dresses for his friends and classmates.
Mahoney says his main focus is women's shoes, all of which are handmade. He designs all of the shoes in his home.
A trademark of the designer's is two buttons which are placed on all his pieces. Mahoney decided on this trademark because his mother and grandmother used to collect buttons.
Mahoney says he has recently been traveling the world, meeting dozens of potential buyers and working his way into the mainstream fashion scene in New York.
He says that he hopes to have a store to show off his creations within the next five years.
