A city organization is promoting peace in one of the neighborhoods most plagued by gun violence in the Bronx.
Bronx Rises Against Gun Violence, also known as BRAG, hosted its third summer barbecue in the West Bronx Saturday.
Every summer, BRAG brings the community together with “peace barbeques.” These events are meant to give young people a safe way to have fun. The event had a bouncy house, a raffle, a dunk tank and free food.
BRAG aims to combat gun violence in the Bronx, something that its leaders say is needed more than ever this summer.
BRAG says through programs like this, they’ve been able to reduce the number of shootings in every neighborhood they are based in.
