Morris Park resident and Bronx high schooler Thea Tinawin received a major surprise Friday.
Tinawin was just sitting in her government class at Preston High School when teachers called her to the lobby.
When Tinawin got there, the admission staff from the College of Mount Saint Vincent was waiting to let her know that they were offering her a full scholarship.
The scholarship is specifically for people of Philippine descent. Both Tinawin’s parents are immigrants from the Philippines, so she says this makes that sacrifice and that the worth ethic they raised her with is all worth it.
Tinawin says she wants to pursue theater as a major.
