Ten of thousands of homecare workers in the state of New York are set to be recipients of nearly $100 million in bonuses as part of President Joe Biden's American Rescue Plan. 

Dozens gathered alongside Rep. Ritchie Torres in the Bronx on Friday to share their experiences during the pandemic and stress the importance of the funding for workers who put their lives at risk on the frontline every day. 

Rep. Ritchie Torres says this is just the beginning. "They should feel like heroes because that's what they are and this investment in our home care workforce is long overdue," said Torres. 

They say they hope this inspires even more change so that workers can get the recognition and pay that they deserve.
