Hundreds of mourners gathered at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Thursday afternoon for a vigil to honor the victims of a shooting there last week.
They also paid their respects to others who have lost their lives while serving others.
As News 12 has reported, the attack left Dr. Tracy Tam dead and a half dozen other people injured. The assailant, also a doctor, killed himself a short while later, police say.
The vigil stirred up memories for Francis Rodriguez, who was trapped inside the hospital during the attack.
“It was scary, very scary. My condolences go out to the families of the doctors,” he said.
Just days later, another attack in the borough killed NYPD Officer Miosotis Familia as she sat in a police vehicle.
Tam and Familia both dedicated their lives to serving others, mourners say. Participants at the vigil wrote messages on cards and posted them to a memorial for both of them.
