A Bronx man is accused of stealing nearly $1,000 worth of DayQuil and NyQuil from a CVS in Wilton, according to the Wilton Police Department.

Gabriel Zapata, 27, was arrested at around 1:30 p.m. Thursday after officers found 27 bottles of sealed medications inside his backpack. Police say they discovered he was named in four additional arrest warrants in other areas.

A CVS employee at 93 Old Ridgefield Road reported seeing Zapata place merchandise into a backpack and confronted him. Police say Zapata then allegedly took some of the items out of the bag and took off running.

Officers located him near the Wilton Library and took him into custody, according to officials. The medication was photographed and returned to CVS.

Zaptata is charged with fifth-degree larceny. He is being held at the Wilton Police Headquarters on bond and will appear at Stamford Superior Court at a later date.
