A driver from The Bronx accused in a deadly chain-reaction crash in Harlem is facing manslaughter and driving under the influence charges, police said.

According to police, Kevin Crosby was speeding in a Hyundai Tucson on Thursday night in the bus lane on West 125th Street when he struck two men on e-bikes outside the Apollo Theater. The Hyundai continued then struck an unoccupied NYPD vehicle, which was pushed into a parked car with two people inside. The car then hit an unoccupied tractor-trailer.

One of the e-bike riders, 28-year-old Darly Zacarius of The Bronx, was killed. The second e-bike rider, a 33-year-old man, was critically injured.

Zacarias, a delivery driver from Highbridge, was described by family and neighbors as a hard worker and one of the kindest people they knew. He had only been working as a delivery driver for a couple of months. His family said they never imagined that riding a bike, making deliveries and trying to earn a living would end in tragedy.

Zacarias’ uncle was fighting back tears when he spoke with News 12.

“We feel really bad because he will never come back,” said Radhames Zacarias in Spanish.

Zacarias’ family, originally from the Dominican Republic, is now working to arrange funeral services and hopes to bring him back there for burial.

Kevin Crosby, 49, has been charged with manslaughter and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to the NYPD.
