A 50-year-old Bronx man accused of stabbing a 21-year-old man on a 5 train in Williamsbridge was arrested and charged with attempted murder and assault.

Police said Lateef Green was onboard a southbound 5 train near the White Plains Road-East 219th Street subway station, when he approached the victim, pulled out a knife and stabbed him multiple times in the torso. It happened around 7 a.m. Friday.

Sources told News 12 that it was an unprovoked attack. Police said the victim was taken to a hospital and is expected to be OK.

One subway rider told News 12 on Saturday that he feels safe taking the subway, but he understands others may not feel the same.

“I have seen people just start yelling at someone for no reason,” said Warren Parker. “I’ve seen a couple of fights. That’s the problem, like mental health, people falling through the cracks.”
