A Bronx man is facing a murder charge for his alleged role in the fatal shooting of a NYCHA employee in 2022, police say.

Xavier Washington, 20, was arrested Thursday, accused of killing Nelson Mattocks at the Saint Mary’s Park NYCHA houses in Melrose on Aug. 19. He was 16 years old at the time of the incident.

Another 16-year-old boy was taken into custody in 2022.

Officers discovered 49-year-old Mattocks, of Queens, behind 700 East 156th St. just after 4 p.m. with a gunshot wound to the face. EMS took him to NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln, where he died.

Authorities could not confirm which man was the alleged shooter.

Police say both men face additional charges, including manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.
