Police say a man has been arrested and charged with murder for the fatal stabbing of a Bronx father in an unprovoked attack in Melrose.
Sean Jones, 38, of The Bronx, is accused of killing George Ennin, 53, in front of 3077 3rd Ave. on Monday. Ennin was attacked two blocks from his home and steps away from Flynn Playground.
The NYPD released photos of Jones early Tuesday morning. He was arrested Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities say officers discovered Ennin just before 2 p.m., unconscious and unresponsive with stab wounds throughout his body. EMS rushed him to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln, where he died.
The attack was caught on surveillance video, showing the knife-wielding man trip Ennin before stabbing him multiple times as he lies helpless on the sidewalk.
Police say Jones faces additional charges, including manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon. They also say he was previously arrested for incidents, including robbery, marijuana sale, fare evasion and assault.
